Circle was founded in 2013 by Jeremy Allaire and Sean Neville. Originally, Circle provided users with a Bitcoin wallet service; however, the company has more recently shifted toward Stablecoin and blockchain and crypto applications. Circle’s Stablecoin is known as “USD Coin,” (USDC) and it is backed by traditional currency. The company launched its own open-source project called Centre, which supports transfers in many countries worldwide.
