About the Company
The New York Stem Cell Foundation, or NYSCF, researches stem cell uses and technology, provides funding for researchers in this area, and hosts a variety of STEM-oriented education programs. Solomon and Mary Elizabeth Bunzel as a response to the Bush administration’s refusal to fund stem cell research, the Foundation is now one of the leading nonprofits in the field. Since 2005, it has raised and invested more than $450 million in stem cell research.
Intern Reviews
- “The company culture was friendly and learning-focused, with all the employees being available at some point to answer questions and talk to the interns about their roles and responsibilities. The attitude towards work/life balance was very good. The general work week was approximately 35 hours of work.”
- “Positive, supportive culture with all professionals happy to assist interns even if they are not part of their specific team or don't fall under their supervision. Interactions with supervisors are always positive and productive with a clear interest in the intern's productivity and satisfaction with the program.”
- “The quality of life at my internship was great. The firm culture was supportive and relaxed, with a positive environment that made it easy to focus on my tasks. I worked a reasonable number of hours and found that the team valued work/life balance.”
- “The overall environment at NYSCF was very positive. I worked in a place with friendly staff always willing to help out and answer questions. In a place where I was motivated and supported to learn.”
Getting Hired Here
- “I interviewed directly with the mentors of my department, and while it was a formal interview, it was much more about whether or not the personalities of the department and myself would fit, as well as the experiences I had prior and how I would help in the department.”
- “The hiring process for my internship involved one interview with two people, including someone who would later become my boss. The interview was straightforward, and there was also an intern check-in before the internship started.”
- “Interview questions were provided beforehand, which I strongly appreciated. Interview process was clear, straightforward, and on a ‘match’ basis (interns did not apply to specific research interests or teams, but were ‘paired’), which I enjoyed because it allowed me to explore a field I had no idea I would have enjoyed as much as I did.”
